Removal of invasive plants is essential to the health of our Certified Wildlife Habitat. Without it, native species are smothered and choked to extinction, leaving no food or homes for native animals. Most of these exotic interlopers are escapees from gardens, sold as “quick fixes” by local nurseries. In the last 2-week period (Jan 15–28), 36 incidents were reported in Beat 204. Of those, none occurred in the area we patrol. One incident involving Internet-based fraud was reported by a resident. We have recently received some new complaints about an Airbnb on Ridgeway Avenue. We have advised residents to call 911 and then the patrol phone for any drug use, loud noise or other disturbances. We’ve emphasized the importance of documenting these complaints through 911 instead of waiting until the next UH Patrol shift begins so that supporting evidence/documentation can be retrieved in the event a complaint is filed with Airbnb directly by residents. The patrol will continue to monitor the situation.
