In the middle of — and totally unrelated to — the political campaigns is an ambitious drive to improve the Underwood Hills Park playground equipment for children and their families.
The urgency of the fundraising effort, launched in early October, is due to a November 1, 2020 deadline for generating $100,000 in order to qualify for Park Pride matching funds. Spearheaded by the Friends of Underwood Hills Park, efforts include approaching individual and corporate donors through emails, phone calls, flyers, postcards, yard signs and an 18-foot banner on the Park’s Harper Street fence. As of this post, almost $71,000 (toward the $100,000 goal) has already been committed from generous neighborhood residents, businesses and other sources. Please donate now at www.underwoodhills.org/park or by emailing [email protected]. |
