Our first workshop was postponed due to rain. Neighbor Jen Reves will facilitate children creating images to incorporate in a decoration of the concrete bleachers in Underwood Hills Park. This Children's Art Workshop, part of the community arts activation project grant awarded to Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association by the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, will run in conjunction with the regular Underwood Hills Playgroup Hi Neighbors!

In just 2 short hours, and using guidance from Trees Atlanta, we made progress on our goal of erosion control by surrounding the base of many newly planted trees and bushes with plastic barriers and wire screens. This will help protect the plants from city mowers and allow them to get established and provide a stronger foundation for the surrounding soil. The team also added many loads of wood chips to certain areas that have been worn bare by use and over-mowing. We’re looking for volunteers to join us this Saturday, March 18, from 10am-12pm as we continue our erosion control efforts by laying hay bales, planting live elderberry stakes and adding some “No Mow” signs to certain areas. For refreshments RSVP to [email protected] Teen Volunteers can sign up for Community Service Hours on myvoluntier.com |
