At NPU-D meeting Tuesday Sept 26 UHNA NPU-D Rep Eva Nason and Alternate Shane Murphy raised concerns regarding the liquor license application sought by Alfred Nault for the property at 1151 Chattahoochee.
Shane proposed and Eva seconded a motion to defer the application to next month’s NPU-D meeting with idea that the applicant could then meet with UHNA in October to address concerns of the community. The vote was close but the deferral passed despite the objection of the applicant. NPU-D actions are non-binding so the effort tonight may have just slowed the process down. During the introductory discussion both the applicant and their attorney said they’d be happy to meet with UHNA. Once it was clear they could not do that before the Oct 10 Liquor License Review Board vote they opposed any deferral. At one point the attorney requested to step back from the meeting and confer with the applicant. The meeting covered another matter before returning to the issue of their application. The UHNA reps have never seen that done at an NPU meeting. The attorney also thought the only options were to vote for or against tonight. The NPU-D chairperson, Jim Martin, politely explained the NPU can vote to approve, deny, or defer depending on the motion. It's not clear if the applicant will attend the meeting with UHNA on October 16. Comments are closed.
