![]() Citizen Science trained and certified volunteers with Adopt-a-stream conduct monthly chemical and bacterial, and quarterly macro invertebrate testing of the stream in Underwood Hills Park, a tributary of Peachtree Creek and one of thousands of sites throughout the country administered by the EPA. The latest chemical and bacterial testing revealed elevated levels of e-coli (~20,000cfu/100mL). Safe levels are <300cfu This kind of outbreak is usually associated with animal feces polluting the stream, either from pets, faulty septic systems or sewerage leaks. Please always pick up after your pets in the park, and even in your own backyard. Persons with open wounds should avoid contact with the water, and all park users should be sure to wash after contact, especially before eating.
