from NPU-D Chair James Martin: Some may recall the egregious actions of the development Authority of Fulton County (DAFC) were discussed when Commissioner Dana Barrett spoke to UHNA in at the October Meeting . In particular, we discussed the proposed $32 million tax abatement that DAFC was considering for Tilford Yard. That is on the DAFC agenda Tuesday Dec 5 along with another data center tax break that will cost us $10 million and go directly into the pocket of the world's richest man. If any from Underwood Hills is interested, I am organizing folks to speak against these deals at tomorrow's DAFC meeting at 2:00pm Fulton County Government Center 141 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303. If you can attend please contact James Martin2023 Chairperson NPU-D Home: 404-351-6949 Work: 404-894-6794 email: [email protected] For those who can't attend, my friend Julian is organizing an email writing campaign. I believe that he was quoted in the AJC article on commercial under-assessments. His email to those who are concerned about this is copied below. Please distribute it to anyone (or everyone) in your neighborhood that you think would be interested. "Friends, We need to stop Fulton Development Authority from granting $42M in property tax breaks - cutting school, city and county revenues - for two data center projects that will happen with no incentive and that bring little or no public benefit. One is at Tilford Yard and the other is for Musk’s Twitter. Atlanta is in a data center ‘gold rush’ per the leading commercial brokers, so it is outrageous for DAFC to offer breaks. DAFC could not get the votes for the QTS tax break last Spring thanks to our outcry. QTS is completing their data center sans incentive. We need to repeat that public outcry to DAFC board, who still may narrowly have a persuadable majority. So please send a quick email to the following address protesting against the data center breaks on Tuesday’s agenda. Best, Julian" [email protected] Suggested message - variants are fine of course: Dear Ms Coleman Please share this email with the board at the Dec 5 meeting. As a Fulton taxpayer, I respectfully request board members to reject both proposed tax breaks for data center projects. In the data center gold rush that Atlanta is experiencing , it is fiscally irresponsible to offer incentives. Tax revenues are precious and we residents expect you to act accordingly. Sincerely Your name and address Address of 2pm meeting; Fulton County Government Center 141 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303 Comments are closed.
