Recently the Steering Committee got invited to one of the new developments at ‘The Works’. Josh Rossmeisel, a new resident to Underwood Hills who moved to the neighborhood from Boston in 2021, gave us an introduction to the concept of ‘Your 3rd Spot’ and an extensive tour of the building site. It is great to see that new business owners reach out pro-actively to the neighborhood and work together with the Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association (UHNA). 2600 copies of the Underwood Hills News were destributed by USPS last week.
Look out for it in your letterbox, and please use the QR code to complete the survey! ![]() From Emily Roth Forest Restoration Coordinator, Trees Atlanta "I wanted to share with you the sign up for this weekend's project. Here is the sign up link with all the details! We currently have 13 (!!) confirmed volunteers with 7 additional spots available. You also might see us out in the Goat Gully sometime this month or next treating the Kudzu and doing some maintenance on the young trees we planted there. I'm organizing this year's volunteer project maintenance calendar, based on suggestions from the site visit, so keep an eye out for that coming soon." You can add UHNA events to your calendar for reminders. Jamie Hargather UH Security Patrol Chair About 30 Volunteers led by Trees Atlanta experts cleared a large area of Underwood Hills Park of invasive plants last Saturday, focussing on Air Potato, Japanese Chaffweed and Bamboo Grass.
The initial workshop explained why they need to be removed and how to distinguish from valuable but similar looking native species, and why simply mowing or poisoning only allows them to grow back!. A smaller group of trained volunteers from the Neighborwoods team helped prune and mulch many of the 400 young trees planted over the past few years. If you'd like to join in, sign up for reminders via our calendar or at treesatlanta.org This week Adopt a Stream will be conducting additional Bacterial testing upstream of the Park to identify the source of contamination. Meantime Park users should avoid contact with the stream water. More information in previous blog posts. Test Data is publicly available via this link. To participate please contact Steven 7706957591
