Your help needed with Plan_A

4/10/2024

DCP recently hosted 7 Open Houses and 8 Popup events, reaching 14 NPU areas and engaging with over 900 residents. Atlantans of all backgrounds came out to share their thoughts on future growth and development in their neighborhoods.

Even with these numbers, we really need to hear from more residents as we move forward. DCP is committed to a planning process that includes everyone in Atlanta’s future prosperity and we are doing a lot of work to increase participation. But as we work to raise awareness among those excluded in past planning processes, I need your help connecting with neighbors who are least likely to be aware of opportunities for engagement with Plan_A, and/or rarely if ever engage with civic planning activities. These are the voices that are missing from our engagements, and we do not want them to be left out.

No one knows your neighborhoods as well as you do, so I’m asking you to please help spread the word about Plan_A with your neighbors, especially those who are unlikely to participate in meetings.
Word-of-mouth encouragement from neighbors, peers, and friends can make a huge difference. Specifically, I’m asking you to:
·       Send a personal email or text message to your neighbors inviting them to come to Plan_A workshops.
·       Share our content on your neighborhood and personal social media accounts or post your own content about Plan_A (even sharing the website will be helpful)
·       Post flyers on community boards (let us know if you need copies)
·       Make a habit of visiting our website for updated opportunities for engagement – popups, conversations with planners, open houses, etc. (https://www.atlantaforall.com)
·       Make sure your neighbors know that their input on issues – housing, commercial development, transportation, infrastructure, etc. – can make a real difference in their neighborhood’s livability.
·       Ask your executive board members to do the same outreach in their networks.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions or thoughts. We are doing a lot to get the word out, but with your help our outreach can go further. If you want to talk to your neighbors, but don’t know what to say, let me know and I can provide you with talking points or materials that can help. My goal is that when all this work is finished, no one will be able to say we didn’t do everything within our ability to get the word out. Thank you always for everything you do for your neighborhood and for our city.

Your neighbor,
