![]() Urban Plan Academy for Community Leaders is a hands-on, one-day workshop that builds participants’ understanding of the fundamental forces shaping real estate development in their communities. The course focuses on the trade-offs, challenges, and risks associated with the entitlement and negotiation processes related to land use. Through project-based learning, participants assume roles in a fictional city-led redevelopment project, working as part of a development team, neighborhood coalition, or public agency. The experience helps sharpen real-world skills in collaboration, compromise, and strategic thinking, all while illuminating the complex dynamics that influence what gets built and why.
