From UHNA Safety Chair Ms Cynthia Williams; We are emphasizing the importance of home fire drills. Our children go through fire drills at school several times a year, and many of us have fire drills at our places of business. But very few of us train our children to escape safely when there is a fire at home. We don’t want any of our little neighbors to be injured or die because they panic and hide in a closet or under the bed. Set up a plan and go through a fire drill with your family as soon as possible. Then periodically repeat the drill so that you and your children know what to do if the unthinkable happens. Remember, no one whose house catches fire expected it, so don’t say it will never happen to you. If you have questions or want specific advice about your personal fire drill plan, email UHNA Safety Chair Cynthia Williams. She can set up a special time for you to run through your drill with our wonderful firefighters at Station 23. UHNA members who complete a drill who complete a drill with the firefighters will receive a free fire blanket, which can be used to extinguish small home fires. Comments are closed.
