The APD TEEN Citizen's Academy educates young people in the operations and practices of your Atlanta Police Department. The program allows City of Atlanta High School youths to get an inside look at law enforcement and even experience what it's like to respond to a scene as an officer.
The Teen Academy will be offered for two separate sessions Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm, June 10-14, 2024 with instruction being delivered both in class at Public Safety HQ and on field trips. Each teen must write a brief paragraph on why they want to participate. Apply early as we will have limited spots. ![]() UHNA Security Patrol Chair Jamie Hargather and other concerned neighbors have been pushing for action on this long-problematic property on a prominent corner in Underwood Hills. Neighbors are urged to contact 911 and report any goings-on at the property, and advise that Code Enforcement is actively working this case. Inspections have been conducted and, since the property is now un-secured, it is eligible for the In Rem process. The case has been noted as Highly Hazardous. Persons found in the building can be arrested. A hearing is scheduled for 10am June 27 at Committee room 1 or 2 City Hall 55 Trinity Avenue. The hearing is public and attendees are able to testify. Given the short time available for comments, UHNA will have someone there to represent the community. The 911 call to the Police is the best action until more definitive action can be taken that will result in a lien. Queries regarding the Hearing can be directed to: Officer Lyles, Code Enforcement 404-623-4614 [email protected] ![]() The French existentialists used to say we should travel through life 'waving a banner marked "engagement!"', not a bad way to live. The key to the vibrancy of any group is the extent to which participants 'engage' with each other and the related activities. The UHNA seeks to foster such goodwill through communication, and creating opportunities to join together in meaningful and enjoyable activities, such as our public meetings, social events, fitness (kilometer kids) and civic aid (Forest Restoration, Community Cleanup). You can help us push the wave; engage with UHNA communiques by 'liking', commenting and sharing. This makes a difference to you by participating, and to those who see your engagement; it helps our social media messaging 'rise to the surface' and garner a wider audience. According to UHNA Survey results, Nexdoor is the most commonly used channel for Underwood Hills specific information, followed by eNews, Instagram, Facebook and 'X', so if you notice something from UHNA please 'like' and comment to help it along. Whatever social media you use, every bit of acknowledgement and participation helps us get the message out and strengthen the community. ![]() In preparation for the UHNA Spring Social May 18 we're conducting a Community Cleanup May 11 from 9am. The focus will be on sprucing up the area around the playground, including signs, benches, tables etc and some light weeding. UHNA will provide refreshments. Please bring your own reusable water bottle and cleaning or weeding equipment.
